How do I avoid eating naughty things?
I have been asked this many times in my life and quite often, but just recently I had a friend who is very interested to know how I am so good at staying healthy and motivated and I am happy to share my tips and my routine as well as I want to help her and others to achieve those desired goals.
3 weeks out from my upcoming competition |
Of course, the most important thing to have is a Goal. And not just one but many more that follows after you`ve reached the first one. Just to make sure you stay on track with yourself and your life, as that`s why we`re here, right? To set and reach our goals!
At this moment, my main goal is to compete in a Bikini Competition and bring the best package of myself as I can, so that`s a major way for me to avoid being naughty. But, of course, everyone, and I mean every single one of us, loose their sh* sometimes and, for example, grab and eat everything what`s there in front of them. And I`ve done that. Sometimes you can control it, sometimes you can`t and that happens and you should not judge yourself for it.
I used to not have much on my mind, I just knew I wanted to loose the weight, tone my body and be fit and then I just stayed on track with what I eat and also had a great balance in between healthy and naughty, if you know what I mean. Then it was different, I have always been that clean eater, if I can say so, as we grew up with our parents always cooking and never eating out or having a take away. It was different times then. So I have a great base of a healthy lifestyle and I`m very grateful to may parents and grandparents for that 💗
But going back to the topic, what to do if your diet makes you occasionally hungry and you want to avoid being naughty and intake much more calories than you should? Well, I have some tips I use myself, as this stage prep diet makes me crazily hungry sometimes and I seriously can`t add anything else to it even if I wanted to.
These might be handy and good to know:
- Of course it starts with a Goal. Deciding on what is that you really want to achieve is the best way to start, also even better if you know in what period of time you want to reach it. Then you pin it and make sure it`s in front of your eyes or always in your mind!
- Written down meal plan with macros. Also always in front of your eyes in your kitchen. Best if you are prepping your meal for more than one day, so that it`s always there for you and you don`t get yourself too hungry in between. Cooking when you`re hungry is bad, if you know what I mean. 😆 And knowing your macros, especially how much calories you should be having a day kind of sets your mindset differently, you know what you`re doing and trying to do that.
- Drinking plenty of fluid. Here`s what I do. I always drink my first liter of water in the morning while making breakfast for myself and the kids. Firstly, it`s the best way to start the day, with some water and hydration, and secondly, that helps me with waiting for my breakfast as it fills me up for some time. During the day, I drink about 4L of water, which also includes teas and BCAA drinks and this all takes up some space in my tummy, at least for a while, until my next meal, which also helps with me avoiding unwanted snacking.
- Actually not having anything you would not want slip in your mouth on a bad day at home. 😆 Do I need to add more here? I don`t buy anything else as my and my husbands prep food, food for my children and if ever they want to have some extra "bad" snacks, I would buy them on the day.
- Chewing gum (sugar free). This is so so helpful to also avoid extra calorie intake. I am now at this point in my life where I would finish 3 packs of chewing gum a day, but it has helped me a lot with my stage prep. So if that`s what`s gonna make you stay away of too many chocolates and crisps, then do it. Don`t see anything bad in a chewing gum 😃
- Sugar Free candy. I have found few now, but even though they`re sugar free and nothing else is in them, they do have a bit calories in them. Aldi sells few different tastes of candy by the tills, where 2 of them would have about 12 calories in them. So I would sometimes in a day have max of 4 as for me any calorie counts. 💁 Also Grape Tree shop sells little gummy bears which is only 6 calories each and nothing else is in them. 😻 These really help with my sweet tooth, as I am a massive sweet lover, I have always been..
- 0 cal Energy drinks, coke and coffee. I have left these as the last only because we all know nothing in these are healthy nor good for you. But even for me there`s some days or nights I can`t go without. I do have one or two coffees a day which is actually okey and I`m having one right now, that keeps me away from hunger, although for some it makes having biscuit or two 😝 Coke is the one I would usually have on the nights out with my friends, as even then, while I`m on my stage prep, I can have nothing extra. 😭 And about them energy drinks, these I love, It`s actually just the taste I love, but there`s some good ones if you look around, like NOCCO BCAA drinks.
So this is what I do day to day while I`m on my diet. I am also in such a routine at the moment, where I am so used to my meal plan, I only occasionally get too hungry. And I am sure once you`re on it and actually staying on it for a while, I`d say 3 weeks, you`ll feel the same as that`s when the results start to come in and you`re so proud of yourself and motivated, you don`t want to stop!
I really hope you can take a Tip or Two from this with you and help yourself 👌
