My Jammy Jam (diet friendly way)
Do you crave some good old jam like I do?
My grandma used to make so much jars of different ones, like strawberry, raspberry, even cranberry jams, to store them for winter and have them delicious vitamin filled berries in the cold months, when you could not buy fresh and home grown ones in a shop. I remember how much sugar she needed to make them though, and it is loads to get a great taste and make them all jammy.. Crazy amount of sugar if you think about it now (now when I`m trying to intake as little sugar as I can, because we all know what too much sugar does 👎👎) Also I could finish one jar with a spoon in one go 💁Anyway, so lets go back to me craving that good old Jam. So as I did, I came up with a recipe of my own which also allows me to have it in my diet (only because I have berries with my breakfast and day snack.) and it still does remind me of my grandmas jams!
My Bowl of Breakfast Porridge |
How to make it?
- Berries (whichever ones you like, I usually buy frozen mix bags, but you can also use fresh berries)
- Put them in the saucepan and add some water, I`d say about as much as berries themselves.
- Start boiling and add some little bit of Truvia (stevia) sweetener. (depending on how much berries you have - I add about 1tsp for 50g and it works) I only use this one which is made from stevia leaf extract as that`s the most natural sweetener out there and of course it has 0 calories in it. 👇

- And then just leave it all boiling on a medium heat and stir occasionally.
- Boil until it gets all mushy, I usually boil my small amount of berries (50g) for only about 15 min.
- Get a clean and ideally sterilised jar if you want to store the jam for longer and leave it in there to cool. Once it`s cold it will form that right texture of a jam jam.
Add it anywhere you like, for example Ice Cream, mmm, and be worry - free as it will only contain natural sugars from the berries, although Ice cream might not 🍨 😆
Extra note: My most favorite one is strawberry or raspberry jam and it`s been like that since my childhood.
